Mendoza is celebrated for his highly original 'Food On Feet' series. He is a self-confessed foot fetishist and more than any of our artists, his quirky, flirty art expresses his own very playful sense of humour.

On this occasion, he explains, "The Russian bakery down the street started making these beautiful chocolate cups filled with a type of meringue and dusted with powdered chocolate. My model arrived at the studio and immediately showed me her freshly done pedicure with dark brown polish. Right away I thought of these chocolate cups and ran down to get a few while my model got ready."

"We did the shoot and got some great images," he continues, "and then it was time for the 'food on feet' part. She became a little apprehensive because not only had she never done anything like it before, she had never realized her feet were for anything other than wearing shoes!"

"But the second she got into position and the first drop of chocolate hit her toes, all her worries melted away and she started laughing hysterically. She laughed the whole time and it was only with great effort that I got her to stop laughing long enough to take this picture!"
